Water crossings, fun downhills, not-so-fun uphills (not too bad really), and wilderness.

Live Oak Trail goes through a campground, thus it cannot be accessed at night.

Overview

Clockwise or counterclockwise, this set of trails is fun. Probably not the best place for a first time beginner. Tejeras/Forest Service Gate has baseball-size rocks that you have to navigate around; my least favorite part of this ride. But, otherwise, this is a fun ride.

For more fun, connect with Live Oak Trail. The water crossings at Endurocross Mania though the Creek at the time of this writing are damaged due to last winter's rainfall.

Need to Know

Kind of creepy at night. Bring a friend.

Description

Much of this is relatively flat compared to other rides, meaning it's not as steep. But there are plenty of gentle uphills and fun downhill sections. This is not an ideal newbie ride, but perhaps a few rides after a newbie's first is ideal.

Overall, expect great swaths of nature, water crossings, and occasional wildlife sightings. Not a good idea to go at night alone.

If I would do it again I would start at the southern tip and go counter-clockwise. Then you would have the climb first and a great cost down after. 15.4mi — 1h 45m
