Description

The Southridge Upper Loop is a popular section of the Southridge XC Course. It's not especially long at 1.25 miles, but it's a mainstay of the area and the race. The loop begins off of the steep Long View Drive Access Road paved climb and goes through a series of two steep climbs before the top.

For most beginners, this will involve a lot of hike-a-biking and even Pros have been know to hike-a-bike on a couple steep sections, but it is doable to pedal through. Adding to the challenge is a few squeeze points on short rock climbs. There's no real exposure on this trail, but know that you're gaining some good elevation in a short time.

Once at the top, enjoy a short descent with some techy rock gardens. Riders may be a little apprehensive the first time they head down. But, once you take another go at it, it's not too bad. After the short descent, there's a bit of a climb out, but it's not as steep as the climb in and it actually pedals well.

At the end, turn right on the Elm Avenue Access Spur.
