Description

Expect a quick descent from Briones Crest Trail near Mott Peak on a smooth ranch road. The upper ridge is open grassland with views to the west then enters a wooded gully past Black Oak Trail.

The trail joins Abrigo Valley Trail near the Maud Whalen campground with a steady climb returning eastward. Grazing cows can rough up the trail during wet weather.
