Description

The trail climbs to the top of the first of three peaks along the Tassel Hill ridge and includes some of the steepest and longest climbs in the Tassel Hill trail network. From the top of Tassel Hill Peak #1, you have the option of continuing to the northwest along the Tassel Hill Ridge for approximately two more miles to reach Peak #3 (highest point in Oneida County) or completing this loop back to your starting point on White Street.

Continuing with the Section 1 Loop - the trail drops steeply off the front face of Tassel Hill Peak #1, then levels off briefly before once again dropping steeply down the face. Adding to the excitement in this section are several hairpin turns and a few minor obstacles.

From the low point of this steep descent, the trail traverses above a steep drop-off before climbing moderately. After the grade levels off, it will eventually turn downhill again as you begin the final leg - a very fun, fast, twisty section.
