Description
Traien Trail starts just to the right of Sonnblick (looking towards Sölden) and heads down along a fenceline. It's a straight shot to start on narrow singletrack that continues down the ridge on a primitive path. You'll be riding through wildflowers with great views surrounding you.
The route then drops slightly off the ridge to the left and then descends to a hard right turn along a tall wooden fence. From there, the trail bends to the left and then dives into a couple of loose, steep turns under a lift tower. At the bottom, Traien rolls out straight towards a small group of huts.
From here, the downhill continues on mellower slopes through alpine meadows interspersed with pine forest. The trail remains consistently narrow and natural, making you feel like you're far in the backcountry. A series of tight switchbacks leads you down to a paved road. Stay right and descend for a short distance to a sign post with yellow trail markers.
Look for a sneaky drop-in on the left side of the road just before the guardrail. The trail drops quickly through roots, rocks and another series of turns. You'll wrap left around the hillside and then descend to a wooden bridge across a small creek. From here, the trail grade mellows again, making this section fast enough and super fun.
The singletrack gives way to wider trail before reaching a farm road. Look right to pick up the last bit of singletrack. This closing section starts with a mix of rowdy roots and rocks to another creek crossing. The finale is a nice bit of mellow trail through beautiful tall pines.
The end of the trail meets another farm road. Turn left and follow the doubletrack past the wooden stile and down to Panoramastraße.
