Description
Although the trailhead is on Indian Canyon Drive, there is no parking there. Its easier to start midway through the loop at the W Greenwood Road parking area. This route will briefly take you on
Trail 10 before moving downhill from the Palisades Rim and into the wooded area below. Because this area is on a flight path for the Spokane Airport, low flying airplanes are a common occurrence along this trail.
After moving through a section of singletrack with lots of loose basalt, roots and undergrowth that crowd the trail, it moves into a more open area with large pines and views of Spokane. This wider section of trail continues through the valley area and connects with the popular waterfall loop and the official trailhead off of Indian Canyon Dr.
The trail then moves back north and slightly east along an old road. Through this section, the trail is wide and maintained but shows obvious signs of human misusegarbage, graffiti and dog leavings. Because this trail runs along the top of the waterfall ravine, visitors are treated to the sound of running water through this portion.
When the trail meets W Greenwood Road, it moves west and slightly north, running right along the road for a while before cutting back into the trees. The trail continues to move west where it once more connects with
Trail 10 to take visitors back to the parking area.
