Overview
Our course is unique in that it is mostly singletrack and it is one loop for the CAT 1, 2 and 3 racers. Pros and open 40-mile racers will do the south end of the course twice.
Description
The course begins with a gradual one-mile roll out to a hard turn onto singletrack, a flowy mile dumps back onto a snippet of two-track. The next eight miles are mainly rolling singletrack with few opportunities for eating and drinking, take 'em when you can.
At mile 10, the course returns to a gravel road and passes the start area at 10.5 miles (Cat 3 finish). Cat 1 & 2 racers continue on two-track for a few hundred yards before making a hard turn into the Galena View and Senate Meadows singletrack. Gradual climbing leads to the CAT 2 split where the 2's will head to
Horsefly Hill and the 1's will continue across the top of the Senate Meadows network to drop down to Pioneer Cemetery.
Now the climbing begins, leave the cemetery area and hit Cherry Ridge Road for another chance to snack. More singletrack leads to the Aid station at about mile 18 and then
Horsefly Hill, push pedals and pull to the top and then descend tight, loose singletrack for the next five miles.
One more snippet of doubletrack descent leads to the last singletrack climb up to the
Rip and Tear downhill with banked turns, doubles, and fun. Pass the yurts and descend to the finish at 25 miles! Pros and Open racers can head out for 15 more miles!
