Bulwark Ridge Road and the beginning part of the Miller Fork Trail are private property. Use of the road and trail by non-residents is forbidden. The only legal access is riding up the end of Dunraven Glade Road past the gate to the
Bulwark Ridge Trail #928-1 and then down the
Indian Trail #927 to where it meets the Miller Fork Trail.
Need to Know
The 2021 flash floods along the Miller Fork damaged many parts of the Miller Fork Trail and washed out all of the bridges.
Description
Sure, lots of trails in Colorado are beautiful, but this one actually took my breath away. Now, maybe it happened while I was laboring up the climbs, but regardless, this is a very pretty trail. It follows alongside the creek for its duration and passes through lush, beautiful forest. There are cool rock cliffs and outcroppings along the way as well.
As for the actual riding, it follows pleasant sections of trail. It's generally pretty easy, but there are occasional sections or rocks or roots that make for a roughened tread. The trail crosses back and forth over the creek many times as it travels through the trees. Many of the log bridges were washed away or damaged during recent flooding.
Along the way, the trail intersects with the Donner Pass Trail #926 - Glen Haven Segment and the Donner Cutoff Trail #926-1, both now hiking only after the Cameron Peak Fire.
After the latter, this trail gets pretty darn tough to follow. It looks as if very few people follow the trail out that far. Depending on the time of year you may simply be bushwhacking to continue following it very far.
