You'll have the noisy, tumbling Noontootla Creek to keep you company as you climb to the main ridge on this forest road.

Description

Noontootla Road is a surprisingly easy climb from Doublehead Gap Road to the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Bull Mountain Trail Complex. It never seems terribly steep and although it's all uphill, there are a few places where it flattens out to give you a chance for a breather. Plus the road follows the tumbling, cascading Noontootla Creek most of the way to the top. There are a number of campsites along the way near the creek.

These roads are great for riding if the Bull Mountain trails are too wet or if it's freeze-thaw season. Wear orange if it's hunting season.

The sound of melting icicles falling to the forest floor all around you is surprisingly tranquil. The sound of a large branch falling in the road 50 feet behind you not so much... but it will make you ride faster!
