From the trailhead, cruise up Deviney Lane to the second trail that goes out to the left. Turning off the paved road onto the doubletrack leads across the prairie to a fork with a bench. Take the fork to the left to stay on the Valley View Trail (the fork to the right follows the Barnett Ranch Loop).

Staying on doubletrack the whole way, the Valley View Trail goes right to the end of the preserve line and is marked with a sign. The trail will pick up a little speed before coming to a sign for the Overlook to the right and the Valley View Trail. Reverse to return to the trailhead.
