Description
Mayfair Ranch Trail is a one-way trail (in the direction shown) with a sign posted at the start near the Casa Loma Road Parking lot.
The trail starts with a series of switchbacks as it climbs up the hillside - and while some of the corners are quite tight, the incline is not particularly steep between them, and therefore climb is reasonably easy to pedal uphill.
The trail begins to level out (although you're still climbing gradually) and winds its way through the trees on the north (shaded) side of the ridge, before climbing a little higher until you are riding right along the ridgeline with wonderful views on either side.
The trail undulates along it's length until you reach a picnic bench overlooking the
Longwall Canyon Trail valley, where the trail then starts resolutely downhill - featuring a series of small humps (presumably for water run-off) some more rocky portions, and and a handful of switchback corners - this is a fun downhill on a nice wide trail, offering plenty of line choice.
The trail then levels out as it follows alongside the creek, where you cross via a bridge followed by a short climb to the junction with
Longwall Canyon Trail.
