The main Penitente Canyon climbing canyon route is only open to cyclists during the race. Penitente Canyon will have limited access to the public September 12-15, 2019.

Overview

Join us for another great 12 Hours of Penitence in the San Luis Valley! This event takes full advantage of all the wonderful features Penitente Canyon has to offer. The race course begins near the main campground and climbs through Penitente Canyon which is typically closed to cyclists.

After a short hike-a-bike section, racers get on singletrack and head south into the flatter, faster portion of the course. The ride gets better and better as racers ascend Sunshine Kitty then fly down Rock Drops / Blue Sky Loop!

Description

This is the third annual endurance mountain bike race in an incredibly scenic and fun venue! Race solo or grab some friends and race as a duo or trio team! All camping, event operations, vending, and entertainment take place in the main Penitente Canyon campground.

Proceeds from the 2017 race benefit the newly formed RGC Rattlers high school mountain bike team!

When you find opportunities to get airborne and sideways on a CLIMB, you're on a good trail and killing it.
