Family Friendly The trail has a few moderate challenges (stream crossings, hill climb with switchbacks) but is mostly easy (once you get past the deep sand of Big Hole Wash Trail). Historic and scenic.

This open space area is closed from December 1 to March 1. Check with Larimer County Open Space for current conditions and closures. Some hunting is allowed by special permit.

Description

From Ruby Wash Trail, you'll cross a stream to access this loop. Ride a beautiful narrow track up through meadows and cottonwood trees, past a couple of old cabins and an even older stone teepee circle. There's a bit of switchbacked climbing to gain the western ridge to the top, but then you are rewarded with a fun, flowy downhill back to the trail junction. From here, loop back north towards Big Hole Wash Trail (the southern trail, Bent Rock, is closed to bikes). There are a couple of minor stream crossings that should be easy unless the water is very high.
