Family Friendly Easy, scenic riding.

The Cranberry Wilderness area to the north of Cranberry River Road does not permit bikes per Wilderness regulations.

Overview

This is a beautiful, gravel road loop on mostly gated roads. It makes a loop and passes by three shelters along the Cranberry River where you can spend the night. Top notch trout fishing also available in season (Google "cranberry river trout fishing"). This area is the most scenic in the fall.

Need to Know

The area is beautiful in the fall with views of Cranberry River. There are several camping shelters along the Cranberry River section.

Description

Parking is suggested at the Kennison Mtn parking area on Hwy 39. One can also park at the Dogway Rd gate or Cranberry backcountry gate. All the roads are gravel except for a short segment on Hwy 39, which has an ample shoulder.

There are many singletrack options off of this gravel road ride to explore.

History & Background

Locals say there once was a town at Dogway. For interesting stories, inquire with some of the older customers at the DQ in Richwood.
