This tough two-way connector links the North Backbone and Pauli (at CR #173). Opened in late 2017, the trail will appeal to riders that want to connect from the intermediate level North Backbone experience to the advanced trails further up the hill, like Upper Sand Dunes, Pauli, Hooligan and Uncle Nazty.

Dude Abides provides a tough singletrack climb as an alternate to the loose doubletrack option of CR #173. More importantly, it's also a multi-line playground if you're descending. Look for several rock features that can be rolled or hucked depending on taste or approach. It's the perfect place to hang out, ride back up, and session a different line.

Descending riders should be alert for oncoming traffic. Due to the steeper grade of the trail, speed picks up pretty quickly on the way down. Make sure to control your pace to prevent surprises (without skidding please).
