Overview
This loop starts at the parking area near the stables, and sets out clockwise around the northwest side of the park. It starts on the
Palmer Point Trail, continues on Greecrest Trail, and finishes on
Grandview Trail. It has a mix of surfaces and includes some moderately technical sections, including two rock garden ascents. Plan for about an hour at a moderate pace.
Need to Know
This is
not the normal, 13-mile
Palmer Park Loop, but a shorter trip that only covers a portion of the park, and is great for an after-work ride when time is limited.
Description
From the parking area, head west onto the
Palmer Point Trail, where you'll do about 15-20 minutes of rocky singletrack with some short but tough technical climbs and a descent or two. You'll flow down onto
Greencrest Trail near Brenner Place (a street).
I like to cut from
Greencrest Trail up a technical climb (hike-a-bike for me), then do
Palmer Point Trail over the main part of the park, then backtrack and head uphill to the Grandview Overlook for a gorgeous view of the Front Range.
Then it's back down the
Grandview Trail's downhill section to the parking lot where the ride started.
