Description

This trail starts at the end of Campground Loop at the off-camber section on the south side of Lake Fairfax. From there it traverses down the side of the hill before entering into a gravel loop area. Keep right to continue on the Ampitheater Trail.

The trail climbs out and opens out onto a gravel road. Continue straight across the gravel road to stay on the Ampitheater Trail. The trail keeps climbing until it appears to come alongside a road approximately 20 feet from the trail. You'll encounter a fork in the trail here. Taking a right will take you to the paved road, and onwards to the Pumptrack Connector, while taking a left will allow you to continue on the Ampitheater Trail.

Shortly aftwerwards, the trail crosses a steep hill clearing created as a gas-line right of way (locals refer to this clearing as "The Chute," and riders often ride down this to experience the exhilarating speeds). Continue straight across the clearing to stay on the trail.

After a small step-up and a root-filled switchback, you'll encounter another fork in the trail. Taking a sharp left at this fork will take you back towards the lake, while a slight right turn will eventually lead you to a road crossing, after which the trail ends at an intersection with Rails to River Trail.
