Description

This trail begins at the turn toward McKnight Road. Instead of crossing the Mimbres River and continuing onto McKnight Road, turn left and follow the doubletrack. There are a few side roads, so stick to the main path that runs roughly parallel to the river. Depending on the time of year, the river may have water in it all the way down to the McKnight Road crossing; however, it is frequently dry until about halfway up the trail.

At this point, you can expect to negotiate multiple creek crossings. Typically, the water will not be very deep; however, following precipitation during the winter or during late summer monsoon rains, the water level can increase significantly. Eventually, this ATV trail will end at a dirt road (Cooney Road 150A) where you'll be met with a robust climb out of the canyon.
