Lake Murray trails are not rideable after rain.
Overview
The section of trail south of the Ranger Station is a bit newer than the trails to the north. The singletrack is a bit tighter, and there are some fun, challenging rock gardens and a surprising amount of climbing. There are also some amazing views of the lake through this section.
Description
From the Ranger Station, you'll take a sidewalk south that leads to a parking area by a bridge (this may also be a TH, but I usually park at the Ranger Station). Cross the road bridge (or by now there may be a pedestrian bridge you can cross), and the
Park Office - Buzzards Roost Section starts just to your left.
This section connects with the
Buzzards Roost - Ski Jump Section and
Ski Jump - Tucker Tower Section for an out-and-back with two bypasses that can be taken if you need to shorten the ride (or you can hop on the road at several spots).
Lake Murray trails can be confusing, but they are between the lake and a major road, so you're not going to get too lost. When in doubt, just keep an eye on the
MTB Project mobile app. Additional maps can be found
here.
