This short figure 8 loop is a great way to get out for a quick ride or a couple loops if you are looking for a longer outing.

Parking at the trailhead start/finish area. Good winter riding.

The Ballardini Ranch Park XC Course uses a Figure 8. It starts just outside the parking area gate heading up the first hill. The trail continues up the hill crossing the return trail up to the overlook. The route goes around the overlook then drops down the hill and returns along the creek. The course crosses the singletrack and wraps around clockwise to the parking area.

This course if part of the Reno Wheelmen Twilight MTB Race Series which has been held from April until September for the past 28 years in the Reno Area on Thursday Nights. The series is run entirely by volunteers of the Reno Wheelmen, a nonprofit cycling club that has promoted cycling events in the Reno area since 1896. The events have been designed to promote cycling and fitness for all levels of cyclists in the community. Many of the these cyclists have volunteered hundreds hours with IMBA Related Clubs to help build and maintain the USFS trail system through the Carson Ranger District and Washoe County Parks Trail System.

The Reno Wheelmen host 50 plus competitive cycling events every year, Road, MTB, and Cross. The Wheelmen hosted the 2018 USAC Cyclo-Cross Nationals in January at Rancho San Rafael Park. They support racing and members who race with generous race reimbursement as well as discounted clothing. You don't need to be a member to race, but it is encouraged as it is the support from our members and sponsors that allows us to promote these events.
