Description

The Grub Gulch Access Trail can be accessed from either the Grub Gulch Access Road or the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail.

When riding from west to east, ride the Ditch Trail for about three miles. The Sterling Mine Ditch Trail ends where the historic ditch runs into private property. From here, the Grub Gulch Access Trail climbs up the side of the canyon above the ditch by way of a rideable grade with several switchbacks.

Part of the climb leaves the tall conifers for oak trees and smaller sun-loving shrubs. The clearing provides a bit more sun and a view of the lower canyon. Eventually, the trail returns to the shade of the tall conifers near the end of the Grub Gulch Access Road trailhead.

Whether the trail is ridden up or down, the grades are good for climbing or a fun smooth flow back to the ditch.
