Need to Know

This trail, like many other trails at the south side of Almaden Quicksilver, may be closed during particularly wet winters.

Take your valuables if you park at the Hicks/Wood Rd. parking lot, particularly during weekdays. This parking lot is very remote, and break-ins are known to happen.

Description

This trail is a fire road connecting the higher parts of Almaden Quicksilver County Park to the Hicks/Woods Rd. parking lot. It serves as a connector between Almaden Quicksilver and Sierra Azul (including Mount Umunhum Trail via Woods Trail). The trail is relatively short and there are no serious elevation changes. There are some mildly interesting views along the way, including an abandoned rotary furnace at the top.

This trail is a better option for people (e.g. kids) who don't like as much climb from the lower park entrances, but still want to see the mining ruins. There are still hills, but not as much of a grind.
