Description

This short trail visits two historical sites from Almaden's old mining days. Its westernmost hairpin bend wraps around the ruins of April Trestle, a structure used for unloading cinnabar carts from the nearby April Tunnel (no longer visible). Close to the end of the trail is the restored Powder House, a former storage place for explosives used in mining.

The trail is a well-shaded doubletrack. Most of it, except for the area near the trestle, has been recently resurfaced with packed gravel and offers a smooth ride down and up. It's a good way to break the monotony of a grind up Mine Hill Trail.
