Climb a thousand feet to some epic views then turn around and enjoy a 40 mph descent.

This ride is commonly ridden from town. If you need parking, Grand View Park or the Encampment School are both great options.

Head west out of town, then turn south on Finley Hill Road. Enjoy the descent into the small valley, because the next three miles are climbing. After the first short climb turn right at the "Y". To the left is the Encampment River Trail #470.

As you climb, keep an eye out for deer and pronghorn. When you get to the aspen grove you are almost done. Most people turn back at the crest of the hill after the aspen grove.

Take a moment at the top to look around as Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep are often spotted in this area. Lastly, enjoy a three-mile descent back to the parking area.
