Description

Summary: A variety pack of mostly singletrack that travels down through different unique sections of terrain.
One-Way Trail: Yes

Description: Down N' Rowdy is the longest mountain-bike only trail in the newer North Slope Trail System of Capitol Forest. Getting to the top would be a long pedal but it's a fairly simple shuttle along mostly smooth roads. Look for the sign where A-5000 meets KC-1000.

The first section of the trail is narrow singletrack with a bit of rough rocky v-cut tread. There are a few optional doubles (or gaps) that are easily bypassed if riders aren't feeling it. Be on the lookout for one drop that while not tall has a pretty short landing before the ground rises back up. Just make sure you land on the downslope and don't stuff your front.

The rough feeling continues through the clear-cut landscape to work it's way down to the ORV Park Tie via a scrabbly rock-roll. Hang a right and then a left to follow that gravel doubletrack to the end where the singletrack picks back up as it circumvents a rock quarry. A few short plunges add to the fun here before the trail overlaps with A-5200.

The next section of singletrack unexpectedly starts by rising up a gravel pile that leads to a short rocky section that can kick your tires around a bit. Pretty soon it reconnects back to the road for a flat pedal to the treeline that unlocks a steep and loose section of dirt that skids through the trees. There's a fun optional drop early on but some protruding roots mean you'll want to thread-the-needle for best results.

At the bottom another short road section carries riders to the next section. Keep an eye out on the left side for the singletrack to start up again. The fun continues on fast-rolling singletrack with one notable "got you" speed killing rise around a stump. Ahead a brief climb leads to the trails final section which is characterized by fast and smooth singletrack with occasional root balls and jumps built over fallen logs. You'll be able to roll the logs, but the blind takeoffs make it hard to gauge what to do on your first run down. The end of the trail works through some final berms before arriving at a "turn-style" fence where it merges onto the bottom of the ORV Park Tie.
