From the junction with NM 68 in Taos, head east on NM 518 for seven miles, Forest Road 438 is on the north side of the highway.

Description

This section of FR 438 accesses the Rito de la Olla trailhead. The road follows a mellow grade along the stream through cottonwood and mixed conifer forests, ending at a parking area where a gated closure prevents motorized vehicles from continuing.
