Overview
A moderate climb on a Forest Service road rewarded with a fast, flowy descent. This loop bypasses the technical section of lower Caribou Ridge. Great fun for all riders.
Need to Know
Look for the
Trail 258 junction, take the right at the fork, otherwise, you'll be descending the technical section of lower Caribou Ridge.
Description
This loop starts at the 257 trailhead and climbs up the paved
S. Beauty Creek Road (FSR #438) for approximately 3.5 miles. Here, you'll reach dirt and continue right up the Pleasant Creek Road 453 for another two miles. You'll quickly pass the top of
Trail 257. This ride hooks back into 257 at the bottom. There is a punchy, steep section of climb right before you reach the top of upper
Caribou Ridge Trail 79.
Descend down upper
Caribou Ridge Trail 79, about a mile down you'll come across a picnic area, cross the FS road and continue down #79. Approximately 1.4 miles down, you'll reach a fork, look for a tiny trail sign posted to a tree for
Trail 258. This right down 258 bypasses the advanced, technical section of lower
Caribou Ridge Trail 79.
The top of
Trail 258 has a few twisty corners then opens up to a traverse down to lower
Trail 257. Watch for tree limbs sticking out as you ride.
Trail 258 is about three miles long, once you hit the intersection of 257 you begin the final fun descent. Watch for one off-camber, technical section before you reach the creek crossing.
