Both loops are good to go! Opened in July 2018.

Overview

This trail system had a soft open in July 2018. As of October, 2022, the trail system has been expanded to include Canyon View Loop where you can ride it to the Drift Bypass juncture and continue on Canyon View Loop or for a shorter, steeper ride back to where the trails meet back up with Floyd's Loop, you can ride up Drift Bypass. At the top of Floyd Hill is The Sluice, a one-way, double black diamond downhill with 4'-6' jumps or a single black diamond line for a more mellow descent. Real restrooms have been opened in October of 2022.

Need to Know

The new parking lot/trailhead is on the west side of the large vacant brown building on top of Floyd Hill.

Description

The trailhead is at nearly 8,000 feet in elevation making this an easy access, high elevation system which is okay to be done in the heat of summer. The trails are not directional but your best bet is to ride them clockwise (as mapped) starting with a mellow climb to the west from the lot on Lower Loop. You'll have some additional climbing in the shade as you get to the Upper Loop and a good amount of downhill to look forward to once you get to the ridge.

Future expansion includes a one-way downhill back to the parking lot and a full descent to the Peaks to Plains Trail in Clear Creek Canyon which connects to Centennial Cone via the Mayhem Gulch trailhead.

History & Background

This is a great step in the right direction for Clear Creek County Open Space. Hopefully, the first of many destination trailheads for Front Range mountain bikers.
