Need to Know

Entrance fee is $3 per person. Cell phone reception is spotty at best, and services in general are limited in Jacksboro.

Description

The trail runs for a total of about 9.0 miles between Lake Jacksboro and Fort Richardson State Historic Site. The trail is mostly flat and is well-maintained, making this an easy ride for beginners, or for a more advanced rider who is looking for a quick getaway from Dallas/Fort Worth. The trailhead is about 90 minutes from Fort Worth.

The fall colors can be quite beautiful here, with abundant wildflowers when in season. Watch your step however, as rattlesnakes do live in this area.
