Family Friendly It's in a State Park with a small nature trail, small beach area, camping, RV sites, and the trail is great to hike. There are docks for easy fishing and plenty of places for the kids to play.

Need to Know

The closest town with amenities is 7 miles so you should come prepared with food, drinks, etc. There are restrooms and showers near the RV park. This trail is rocky and very hardy. It can get a little sloppy in a few areas, but overall it holds up very well to the crazy OK conditions.

Description

This East Loop is the less technical loop and definitely recommended for newer riders. You can ride this in both directions and it's a blast both ways. As an alternative to shake things up you can also ride the Lake Tom Steed Full Loop starting from here.

The trailhead for the East Loop is just as you enter the park. You can park in the gravel lot and ride either direction. The easiest way is to head up the bank on the small pond directly in front of the parking lot. The normal direction of the trail is clockwise so take a left on the pond bank and cross a small grassy service road and you jump up a rock face directly onto the granite rock trail.

Be prepared! Within a few hundred feet of entering the trail you make a sharp right directly up a gnarly rock chute. It's totally ride-able, you just have to commit. This loop actually has several areas where you can get some speed and have a little flow. Enjoy it while you can :)

You'll hit the middle of the figure-eight that leads to the main West Loop about halfway into the loop. However, to continue doing just the East Loop you'll stay right and continue the loop back to the east parking lot and your car.

There are several difficult sections, but there is only one section that is next to impossible to ride. We are working on the entry into this to hopefully give riders a 50/50 shot at some point. The rest of the East Loop is fully ride-able.

Difficult to describe without profanities. If normal mtb riding is bike assisted hiking/trail running then this loop is more like bouldering whi… 2.2mi
