Description

Starting from the powerline cut, Wheatley Trail enters the juniper forest and you begin a long, continuous, smile-inducing descent down the fall line.

Wheatley is rocky in places, but not as rocky as Juniper Ridge Trail. You should be able to carry good speed downhill, but check your speed at the intersection. It does make a nice bail point if you've had your fill of rock gardens on Juniper Ridge Trail.

The top of Wheatley is just off the powerline cut — look for an obvious trail entering the forest. The powerline cut isn't an official trail, but there is an old roadbed along the powerline that you can ride to the top of Wheatley from Windmill Road rather than climb up from the bottom of Wheatley.
