Need to Know
Do not take the old trail on the left side of the old lower lake. Used to be rideable, but they started logging that side. I am not sure how much longer the trails on the right side may be available.
Description
The lakes were drained many years ago leaving the old fishing trails behind. You can park right at the old parking spot for the upper lake or park at the large parking lot at the old lower lake. I would say it is best ridden from the old upper lake parking lot on Dutch Road.
Start down the large paved road with lots of over grown grass. After a few hundred feet, look for a trailhead on the right. This will start you on a small loop by taking the first left. Do this small loop, then take a left up a small hill to continue on the full loop. Follow this and stay straight at the intersections. This will take you above where the old upper lake was. Take a left and go down the hill.
Now you'll be on a wide old paved road with a singletrack path through it. Follow this until you see a path on the left. Take this until you get to where I said to stay straight at the intersections. This time, you can take a right to go back to the trailhead or head up the hill to the another trailhead on Dutch Road. If you take a right, follow back to the trailhead, then take another right. Follow for a few hundred feet and on your left you'll see a path with some trees cut down. Take this—it's a bit rough right here until you get to where the old lower lake was.
Continue down and you'll see a small bridge. If you go straight, it will take you to the old lower lake parking lot or you can take right to continue on the loop. If you go right, follow this until you see another bridge on the left. Take the bridge and go up the hill. At the top, take a left to head back down towards RT 288. You can turn around and do it in reverse or go left up 288 then left onto Lake Road to head towards the old lower lake parking lot. If you want to make it a continuous loop head up lake road then take Dutch Road on the left to head towards the old upper lake parking lot. This trail can be ridden in any direction
