Dogs Off-leash
Family Friendly
Free camping.
Overview
This ride is just a fun little adventure through logging roads and Jeep trails in the Blachly Mountain Forest. Nothing too fancy or super special, but fun nonetheless. This could be a nice bikepacking stop as there are tons of free camping areas all along these roads. I didn't see anyone out here the entire time I rode through.
Need to Know
Low Pass is the nearest town. There is a small market there.
Description
Park at the trail start marker, then ride along a short section of Highway 36 and turn right to climb up
Amy Road (which becomes
16-7-11 Road). A nice, serene, and scenic ride through the forest with tons of free camping areas.
If you get all the way to the radio towers, you have gone too far (still a cool area to check out but I believe the road dead ends up ahead somewhere). The first road prior to that is the one to turn on (on the right). This road will dead end at a free camping area at the end of an incline.
The
4x4 Trail then starts right there. Follow it and turn left at the first
4x4 Trail intersection (there are other trails out there that I didn't get a chance to check out). Continue down the trail until it connects back to the backroad that feeds into the power lines (
16-7-12.2 Road). You should end up back at where you parked.
