The nearby parking lot has a gate to close it; I am not aware of the opening and closing times.

Overview

A combination of the Bernardo Mountain Lake View Trail and the Coast to Crest Trail, running east to west.

Need to Know

You may have a casual encounter with snakes.

Parking is across from the Chevron gas station (just pass the golf club parking).

There are a couple of restrooms along the course.

Description

The trail is about 10 miles long, out and back. There are plenty of hikers—be considerate and control your speed!

As a beginner I was scared by the few (4) downhill sections because they are short and steep (at least for someone starting mountain biking). I followed a more experienced biker and had no issue with them, but I would not recommend a beginner child to start here, while the adults, once they overcome fear, will love it.

The trail is mostly flat terrain and does not require a high level of fitness (although it may be hard for the couch potatoes out there).

Overall, I really liked it, and being a beginner, I appreciated that the downhill is short and manageable.
