Need to Know
This trail has more than the usual road crossings. As most of these are in a median, please look out for motorists making left turns onto and off of Skyline Boulevard as well as making u-turns on Skyline.
Description
The northern three fifths of this trail is singletrack in the median of Skyline Boulevard. Yet as suggested by the profile, it is good for newer riders. As a social trail, it also has some occasional tricky bits that keep interest for more experienced riders. That, and the fact this route is more fun than the closest alternative as that is the
Goldenrod Trail, which is fire trail, just to the east in Chabot.
The southern two fifths is fire road. Straighter than
Goldenrod Trail but more rolling. You can connect between the two at Anthony Chabot Equestrian Center/Horseshoe
Trail near the northern end of the fire trail segment, allowing you to choose between horizontal curves on
Goldenrod Trail or vertical curves on this trail.
This trail is also interesting because it provides an opportunity for more of the general public to see people mountain biking making it a bit more like the spectacle of surfing than the usual rider off in the woods experience.
