Description
A good, nontechnical fitness loop. Trail generally flows better in a counter-clockwise direction, but is bidirectional. Going CCW requires a major climb right out of the gate, but maximizes the fun and flow on the way down.
Enter through the gate (shut and locked if trails are closed), and stay right at the fork. You'll traverse a series of switchbacks on your way up to the top. Most of the way up, there's a rest bench if you need it, and the connection to
The Falls . Go right to ride phase 2 out to shepherd's creek rd. Stay to the left to continue the loop. Past the bench, there's a series of logs over a muddy spot followed by a short, steep pitch to the top of the trail. From here on, the climbing is minimal, and the downhills are fast and flowy. Watch for other trail users, but you can really let it rip since the sight lines are open. Be aware of a few tight turns and the creek crossing so you don't fly off the hillside, but otherwise, pin it wide open and enjoy!
For more fitness and fun, repeat the loop by staying left at the intersection near the parking lot. Go right to return to your car.
