Lincoln County trail pass required.
Description
Starting at the east intersection of Old School and
Main Course this northern lobe of the trail is optional and best ridden west to east. As it is mapped however, east to west, climb up some newer machine built trail there will be plenty of steep ups and downs eventually linking back into
Main Course. Continue across
Main Course for a short descent and eventually to Blackwater Bridge. Narrow and slightly banked this bridge is slippery when wet.
Once across, the trail is narrow at times with short punchy ups and downs on old wilderness singletrack. At the southwest end of the loop you'll intersect a gravel trail, follow the gravel road to Underdown Lake. Stop here for a nice view, quick dip in the lake or just cool your feet off. Continue along the lake shore on some rooty narrow singletrack under old hemlock growth eventually working your way around the north side of the lake and into the Yin & Yang section of the loop.
Now the climbing begins, steep at times but not long with some machine improved downhill sections. Twist and wind your way around the loop and back onto something a little more straight. There are a couple of short climbs and descents before linking back up with
Main Course.
