The Tiki Hut is a landmark and trail gathering hub in this area. Heading east from Sweetwater Summit Campground on the south side of Sweetwater Reservoir will take you on a newer route across San Miguel Road and through singletrack until you reach the Tiki Hut. An alternate route back varies the experience.

Sweetwater Summit Park has camping, picnic, and restroom facilities. Free parking in overflow lot on the right before you reach the kiosk.

Head east on wide fire/access road from Sweetwater Summit Park through the horse gate. Parallel the dam area and continue east along the peeler log fence. Continue straight through the next horse gate and up to San Miguel Road. Cross the road and head down paved road towards the SDGE power plant.

Find the left entrance through chainlink fence on your left and follow the singletrack up to the small pond and across the earthen dam. Continue on singletrack that climbs up to the Tin Shed. From the Tin Shed, head on singletrack downhill to the northeast and follow it until you come to a flat area.

Follow the trail up the hill to the right and you'll find the Tiki Hut. Enjoy the view of Sweetwater Reservoir looking west. Come back out following the same route, but as you approach the Tin Shed, follow the flowy singletrack heading down towards the reservoir. Make a sharp right turn following the singletrack back up and over to the small pond with the earthen dam. Follow the same route you came in on back to Sweetwater Summit Park.
