Overview

This loop is good for groups that include a broad range of abilities. For the most part, the climbs are gradual and the downhills flow nicely. The view from Hazard Peak is spectacular. The little poppers on the lower part of Manzanita are my favorite part. Overall, your ride will end with a smile!

Description

Begin on Hazard Canyon road. Ride to the end of the road and take the East Boundary trail. There are some tight switchbacks but the climb is not to bad.

From the top descend to Islay Creek Road. The descent is steep in places with a run of water bars. Ride down Islay Creek Road until you see an unmarked trail on your right. It's pretty obvious. This switchbacks to Hazard Mountain Trail. The trail flows with banked corners. Would be a great descent on another ride. Go right at the top of the trail and continue to the top of Hazard Peak. This gets a little rocky but it's an enjoyable, gradual climb.

Take in the view at the top and then head across the ridge. Turn left onto Manzanita. This is a fun down with little poppers on the lower part of the trail. As you get to the bottom there are two caution cones. Pay attention, stay well to the right, and slow down for a sharp turn or you'll skid out quickly. At Hazard Canyon Road, take a left and back to your car.

Bitchin. Chill but long climb to the top and a rocky bomb back down Barranca trail with fun switchbacks and some drops or jumps on the way down. 12.5mi — 1h 23m

Do not use the MTB directions by sending the link for the ride to Google Maps. The directions sent me up a very steep tight cornered road. for 10 Mi 8mi — 1h 30m
