It's best to park at the
Girdner Trail, aka, Cultural Park so that you can do this loop completely on singletrack.
Overview
A scenic loop with some fun, short technical sections especially the sidle in to Dry Creek.
Need to Know
As usual in this area carry plenty of fluids.
Description
Park at the Girdner TH, aka, Cultural Park, and begin on the
Girdner Trail. Head downhill for about a mile, then slowly climb, intersecting with, and turning left (west) on
Rupp Trail. The profusion of trails in this area can be confusing even though trails are well signposted. Check on the
MTB Project mobile app to make sure you turn the correct way at intersections.
Rupp intersects
Cockscomb Trail which you follow until throwing a left at the start of
Outer Limits. Once on
Outer Limits, you'll enjoy big views and swoopy singletrack for some distance. The trail has a few small climbs before it descends a couple of big switchbacks to cross Dry Creek. There is some exposure and small technical features as the trail sidles into Dry Creek. A short, steep pinch out of the creek starts the gradual climb up to Highway 89A and the trailhead.
