Overview

This loop features some pavement, some doubletrack, and a decent singletrack descent. This is a great shuttle ride (just leave a car at both ends) or can be done as a loop with a ride back on Hwy-93.

Description

Ride south on Hwy 93 from town. Turn right onto Hwy 73 until you see the BLM sign for Birch Creek. Follow the road to a livestock gate (don't forget to leave the gate as you found it dumdum :-)).

Climb for a long time until you connect with the Lombard Trail #4369. After that, the terrain becomes rolling with good views of the Garden Creek drainage.

Descend the Lombard Trail #4369 to the non-motorized singletrack trails behind Challis and enjoy the descent. Be ready for a fast descent with quite a few sharp switchbacks and clunky turns not necessarily designed for mountain bikes.
