Overview

This is a quick and fun option for those looking to get a scenic ride in while on a [time] budget!

Need to Know

Drinking water, showers, a boat ramp and flush toilets are among the available amenities at Lake Wedington. Campsites do not have electrical hookups, but are equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring and grill.

Description

Begin at the Lake Wedington Parking Spur and bike the short distance to the distinct "Y" intersection. Take a right to stay on this ride - it's shorter than the full loop, but just as fun.

The trail will eventually spit you out at the Hwy-16 road crossing and into the main parking area. Take the trail on the right - the lower Lake Wedington South Loop trail - and enjoy the views as you traverse the lake's rim.

Eventually, you'll be guided around the corner and heading back NW towards Hwy-16. Be safe biking back to the spur lot!

History & Background

IMBA just finished doing a wonderful improvement project of these trails during the summer of 2019!

In the 1930s, the lake and recreation area were built under the guidance of the Soil Conservation Service. The Forest Service acquired the land in 1954 and restored the buildings, and the location is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
