Description

Amicalola Creek Road starts as a gravel road near the top of Amicalola Falls. (Do visit the falls if you haven't). It starts out as a relatively flat ride and then you start to climb. The climb is never steep and before you know it, you've climbed 700 ft.

At about three miles, you'll reach the end of the biggest climb and come to a fork in the road. The main road continues to the right up to the Len Foote Hike Inn, near the start of the Appalachian Trail. Amicalola Creek Road continues to the left, past a gate on the rougher dirt road. Past the gate, the road becomes a doubletrack as it heads towards Frosty Mountain. A short spur road leads to the summit.

After the turn off for the spur road, you'll enjoy about a mile of bumpy, rockin' descent on the rocky and rutted (in a good way) doubletrack down to Nimblewill Gap and the intersection with Nimblewill Road (FS 28-2).

Unfortunately, there's no good way to incorporate this road into a loop without having a massive paved road ride in the middle.
