Need to Know

Posted signs note that the trail is near a 'residential quiet zone', and so 'please be respectful'. This trail provides a nice short loop from from that neighborhood, so watch out for hikers and runners.

Description

Hawk Ridge allows for more time on singletrack for those heading up to South Rim Trail from Mountain View Trail and the Snowmass Center. This trail eliminates need to ride through the parking lots and neighborhood roads to the south (that used to be the only way to make the connection.) You'll find a few steep or tight turns, but mostly easy climbing if heading east to west, and then a nice traverse on the west half after cresting the small pass at the mid point of the trail. This is a two way trail, so also rides well, and mostly downhill if heading east.

The trail passes through several flower choked meadows, a zone of dense shrubs and oak brush, and also a grove of aspen trees on the west end near the intersection with the Rim Trail.
