Features -none-

Family Friendly Wildflowers and cedar glades abound; the trail is not difficult but does have some challenges to keep it interesting; excellent for all skill levels.

Park is open from 7a.m. to dusk; TN State Park Rangers patrol; signed clockwise for MTB, bi-directional for hikers/runners; currently no eBike policy for the system; restrooms are available at Bryants Grove Beach just 0.5 miles from the trailhead on Barnett Road. One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.

Overview

A clockwise three-loop system with a total of 6.7 miles. White Loop is 1.9 miles and usually referred to as the "Day" Loop. It features a mixture of rocks and roots with some tight curves. The grades are sustained and not overly difficult. A shortcut is available approximately 0.5 miles in, which cuts the ride in half.

Orange Loop - Bald Knob is 1.4 miles long with a mix of rocks, roots, a rock garden, and sustained climbs with intermediate switchbacks. There are fast and flowy downhill sections coming off of the Bald Knob overlook of J. Percy Priest Lake.

Blue Loop is the newest addition to the system. It is 3.0 miles of intermediate XC singletrack. There are additional features for advanced/enduro skill levels and some tight climbing switchbacks with multiple creek crossings, which usually are dry.

Several huge trees were discovered in the park on this system. Cedar glades and wildflowers abound. Overall, lots of flowy, tight, and twisty singletrack.

Look for shared connectors at mile 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 2.5. The system is signed very well with loop marker designation and mileage.

Need to Know

Easy access to Mount Juliet and Smyrna for food - approximately 15 minutes each direction. Boat ramp, restrooms, and swim beach available in proximity of trail system - approx. 0.5 miles on Barnett Road. Additional eight-mile (four-mile, one-way) hiking trail at Bryant Grove beach which connects Bryant Grove to the main Long Hunter State Park on Hobson Pike.

There is also ample paved parking, which is patrolled by TN State Park Rangers and will enforce hours of operations. No night riding allowed.

Description

This system is located at 9933 Barnett Road, Rural Hill, TN. From the parking lot trailhead, enter just beyond the trail kiosk - updated map and kiosk coming soon - and begin riding in a clockwise (left) direction. The trail is well-maintained and clearly signed with loop designation markers and mileage on each of the three loops - White Loop (1.9 miles), Orange Loop - Bald Knob (1.4 miles), and Blue Loop (3.0 miles). Currently, the total system added up with shared connectors comes out to around 6.7 miles.

The White Loop has a clearly signed shortcut which cuts this loop in half (1.0 mile). There are bi-directional shared connectors, which are clearly marked for access to-and-from Orange Loop - Bald Knob and White Loop. Access to Blue Loop is from Orange Loop - Bald Knob. Blue Loop has shared cut-through connections at mile 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 2.5.

Three is a sustained climb of almost 200 feet of elevation from the last creek crossing on Blue Loop to the top of the Orange Loop - Bald Knob Loop which overlooks J. Percy Priest Lake. Expect fast and flowy downhills from Bald Knob overlook with switchbacks and a rock garden toward the end of the loop. Utilize the bi-directional shared connectors for access to return on White Loop.

The trail drains exceptionally well and in most cases is rideable 24 hours after downpour - please check SORBA Mid-Tenn website for latest updates on trail conditions of this trail and others in Middle Tennessee. The trail is built on a limestone shelf and has a mixture of loose over hard terrain for the White and Orange Loops, while the Blue Loop is a 50/50 mix of rich soil and limestone.

This section of the Jones Mill Trail travels above the lake. If you'd like a break, it's not too hard to walk down to the shore.

Fun singletrack! Stayed left at pretty much all the junctions and seemed to get the entire mileage. 9mi

Turn at 4.6 is not signed properly for riders unfamiliar with the trail system. Turn right rather than out onto the asphalt boar ramp. 8.8mi — 1h 15m

I was very confused and actually ended up somehow going in a big loop twice around the second road/boat dock. I couldn't see were to go next. 8.3mi — 1h 56m
