Description

This trail is new (as of 2020) enough that Leon County has yet to give it an official name. The locals are calling it Longleaf Trail for now.

This is one of three new trails at the JR Alford Greenway. The trail is primarily hard-packed red clay with many moguls. Both directions offer some decent climbs followed by fast, fun downhill segments. It meanders along the southern boundary of the Greenway, parallel to the South Trail. However, it is a much smoother and faster ride without the root gardens that are a major feature of its neighbor.

One word of warning, at least for the interim: this trail is new, and there are several disturbed sections just off of the trail where the construction crew collected the clay for moguls and berms mentioned above.

Unfortunately, these cuts can look like part of the trail until you get close. Until they grow in or get more time on the trail, you may want to tread carefully before making a wrong turn into a very short dead end.
