Need to Know

The park is predator free, and the council works hard to protect the birds (like kiwi) that they've reintroduced here. They ask that you clean your bike and tires before entering the park, and no pets of any kind are allowed.

Description

Like the North Coast Track, this isn't the most exciting riding trail in the world, but the views are outstanding. The surface is a mix of dense grass that can grab at your tires and slow you down, and dirt road with some loose rock sections. White markers will guide you along the way.

Although it may not seem like it at first, this can actually be a challenging section of trail. It rolls up and down with some very punchy climbs along the way. A couple of climbs are steep enough to make it challenging to stay on the bike. However, most riders can complete the loop if they're willing to walk a couple of sections. The only technical bit is one steep and loose descent that novice riders may want to walk.
