Heron Bay Trail in Del Valle.
Description
Start by heading straight towards
Brushy Peak Loop Trail: Fire Road. It starts out flat, but curves around a stream and starts to climb steeply. Then, enjoy a short, mellow descent with nice views. At 1.71 miles, the trail will start to climb again, but as
Brushy Peak Loop Trail: Singletrack. There is no difference marking this change, but the ground will get narrow and sandy. At the top of the small hill, rocks start to form and the trail gets really technical. Although it's pretty forgiving, watch out for rocks on the descent. Although most aren't too tall, they can still catch you off guard. This is definitely high-intermediate or maybe even black during some times of the year, and do not attempt with families or beginners. At the bottom of the hill, take a right and climb
West Side Loop Trail. There are two options to get up the hill: a mellow and climbable singletrack, although unmarked, and a steep fire road that many mountain bikers will want to walk. Both lead to a small hill with great views of Livermore. Then, descend a fast and fun fire road back to the car.
