Overview
This is a ~six-mile loop of the more advanced trails that are available in Phase 1 of the Baileys Trail System. Start with
Lost Marbles Trail unless you like climbs at the end of the ride.
Need to Know
Parking along West Bailey Rd. is possible on the shoulder on the southside of the road. There is room for ~6 cars or so, and it has never filled up.
Description
Each trail in this route has a completely different feel.
Lost Marbles Trail is probably the most challenging of this route, and it is more open and has nice views of wetlands, blue sky, and in places, other sections of the trail below. There is a short stretch of
Salt Works Trail from Lost Marbles to Tipple Top that is pretty fast and flowy.
Tipple Top Trail is more deeply forested and has some muddy spots due to the steeper hillsides and dense forest preventing the sun from drying out the trail.
Wild Turkey Trail runs through semi-open forest and is positioned along a fairly long flat ridge, so it is super "fast and furious." You can also add the east side of
Wild Turkey Trail at the end of the ride, if you're looking for more mileage. This section is about 3 miles total out-and-back.
The route is scenic and descends down to the beautiful and tranquil Middle Baileys Run, which is possibly the nicest destination in the Baileys so far.
