Overview
Super fun section of smooth, fast downhill with some challenging uphills. Allows for repeated loops to practice your runs through the features (berms, jumps, pump tracks).
Need to Know
If you are not familiar with the area, the parking lot is often congested as it supports the golf course, hiking trails and the MTB trails. As you enter the area, you'll stay left turning away from the Cheekwood entrance and toward the golf course clubhouse.
Description
From the trailhead near the golf course clubhouse, you immediately climb on to
The Blvd briefly before turning left onto
Toybox Hill. There are several moderate switchbacks as you climb the hill. At the top, there is a nice wide area for prepping for the downhill section.
The downhill section has several tight turns with dirt berms to keep up speed - it is mostly smooth, with a few jumps along the way. There is a nice table top jump after the third berm. As
Toybox Hill ends into
The Blvd, again there is a nice wide spot for gathering the group before moving on.
Turning left onto
The Blvd begins a gradual downhill section of trail with some roots and rocks and several wooden bridges. It slowly turns into a gradual uphill after about a quarter mile. The next half mile of
The Blvd is uphill and continues uphill onto
Wabash Climb after a tight left turn.
Wabash Climb has several tighter switchbacks and opens up at the top with options of three downhill sections.
Wabash Cannonball,
Wabash Blue Flow, and
Screaming Delta Demon
Wabash Cannonball is straight ahead and is a mostly smooth tight downhill section with several small berms and a few rolling jumps. The trail ends into
The Blvd looping back towards the trailhead. There is a challenging rocky climb about a tenth of a mile after the merge into
The Blvd.
You can add length to the to run by re-running the
Wabash Climb and
Wabash Cannonball or return back toward the trailhead. The return back on
The Blvd is the opposite with the first half mile a gradual downhill and then about a quarter mile uphill. Re-run the
Toybox Hill by turning right just past the orange cone and it shortens the earlier climb to the top of the hill to just a couple switchbacks.
The end run back to the trailhead is a nice flowy downhill, but be careful as it is two-way and you'll likely pass people climbing. It ends into a grass lawn or short trail to the parking lot.
